Suede Leather

Suede originally referred to soft, napped leather made from the hides of lambs or calves, imported from Sweden and used for special gloves. The term comes from the French word for such gloves, pronounced "la Suède" (Sweden) or "le suède" (suede leather). In English, it is pronounced "suede," while in Korean, it's commonly referred to as seomu

.

  • la Suède [[sɥεd]]: Sweden (feminine noun, refers to the country)

  • le suède [[sɥεd]]: Suede leather (masculine noun, refers to the material)

Suede is widely used for winter wear like gloves and jackets. Today, it is also applied to interior decorations, furniture, and various accessories. While it lacks durability because it excludes the tougher outer skin layer, It has the advantage of having soft features.

And suede requires a lot of processing.

The leather layers are split, the outermost surface layer is removed, and only the soft, three-dimensional inner skin is obtained and used.

That's why it is known as a very expensive leather product.

Artificial Suede Fabrics by Daejin S&T

In addition to natural suede, synthetic suede fabrics mimicking the texture of real suede are widely produced. These artificial materials offer several advantages:

  1. It is more water resistant than real suede leather.

  2. It is easier to clean and maintain than leather, as stain removal is easier.

  3. This is a great fabric for people who are uncomfortable with animal leather.

  4. It is cheaper than real leather suede.

Daejin S&T specializes in producing diverse types of artificial suede fabrics, offering various textures and properties:

Sustainable & Eco-Friendly Manufacturing

Daejin S&T focuses on eco-friendly production, using polyester and CDP fabrics as the base materials.

Daejin S&T's water-based impregnation process (water base) can be called an eco-friendly process product because it uses water, not petrochemical solvents, to impregnate PU (polyurethane) resin.

And above all, it has the great feature of not detecting any harmful substances.

In addition, the eco-friendly water-based process simplifies the process, saves energy, and minimizes wastewater discharge, preventing environmental pollution. This sustainable method also:

  • Simplifies production, reducing energy consumption.

  • Minimizes wastewater discharge, protecting the environment.

Suede fabrics called Recycle are made by combining recycled polyester made from used plastic bottles.

Its advantage is its excellent wash-ability.

Highlight: Vintage Micro Suede

Among the various suede fabrics produced, the one that I would like to introduce is the 'Vintage Micro Suede' fabric.

This fabric is a 'vintage effect using two-tone colors' created by Daejin S&T's technology, and the natural two-tone effect provides a feeling similar to real leather.

Depending on the user's needs, it can also be produced with recycled polyester, and it is basically environmentally friendly as it uses a water-based impregnation process.
